Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I search the site?

A: We've created lots of ways to search the site - you can either click into any of the subject themes on the home page, and go straight to see all the images, or you can search under categories or decades for a specific subject or time period.

Alternatively you can just type a subject (e.g. a street name ) into the first text box on the home page and click on search.

Remember to click the 'Clear Search' button before you start any new searches.

Q: What if I can't find what I'm looking for?

A: We've digitised thousands of images as part of the Ripon Re-Viewed project, and we will be cataloguing and uploading hundreds more to the website over the coming months, so please do keep checking back, there's plenty more fantastic images to come!

Q: I have some photographs of Ripon, would you be interested in them, and like to include them in the website?

A: We received funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to digitise the Ripon Re- Viewed collections, so for now we are concentrating on cataloguing and uploading those, but we are interested to hear of any further collections about Ripon, and might be able to offer advice. You can email us at riponreviewed@gmail.com or get in touch with us through our Facebook page.

Q: How can I get involved with Ripon Re-Viewed?

A: Ripon Re-Viewed is a Ripon Civic Society project, and there will be a small group of volunteers continuing to work on the cataloguing and publishing of images. If you are interested, please do contact us at riponreviewed@gmail.com

Q: I'd like to use some of these images for a local project, or group that I'm involved with - can I download them?

A: At the moment there is an option to purchase individual images for private use, or for business purposes. You can find the the Terms and Conditions at the bottom of the website, and you will need to agree to the Terms and Conditions before purchasing images.

We are however keen to support local groups and projects, and are hoping to make a selection of photographs available in the coming months that can be licensed out for community and educational purposes.

Q: Why can't I just download an image?

A: You are able to purchase and download all the images, in line with our Terms and Conditions, and we encourage you to share via social media, but it is not permitted to download or take screen grabs of the images directly from the website.

Ripon Civic Society is a small registered charity, and the preservation and digitisation of these collections has been made possible through the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund.

By creating a Dedication, or purchasing an image, you are supporting Ripon Civic Society in its efforts to continue to preserve these images, and maintain the website so that everyone can continue to see and enjoy them.

Q: I have some more information about a particular photograph, how do I share this with you?

A: You can contact us either by emailing riponreviewed@gmail.com or by visiting our Facebook page.
