War Memorial for the First World War in the Spa Gardens

Date: 1930s

In 1919 the War Memorial Committee agreed to the design of a stone column with a bronze figure at the top, at a cost of £2000. The Spa Gardens were selected as the most appropriate site for the Memorial, and commemorative services were held shortly after its erection in 1920.
