This image shows the ornate decorative arch which was erected for the 1896 Millenary celebrations. King Street can be seen beyond the bridge, looking through the arch. Note also the many small lamps on the arch itself. Many people are gathered underneath the arch; the North Eastern Railway's horse drawn vehicle and a cart belonging to W E Dixon are also visible.
