The Water Garden at Studley Royal was created by John Aislabie in 1718 and later expanded by his son, William. It is one of the best surviving examples of a Georgian Water Garden in England. Inspired by the work of the great French landscape gardeners, the two gifted amateurs created the Water Garden with its formal, geometric design and extraordinary vistas.
