This property is grade I listed and was built in the 1690s for Sir Edward Blackett, MP. It is situated next to the River Ure at Skelton-on-Ure, four miles south-east of Ripon. Both Sir Christopher Wren and Robert Adam were involved in its design and modifications. Architect William Burges built a church here and made other improvents in the grounds (1871-1876).
