Image ID: 00573
Date: 1909-1929
This image was taken from an upstairs window of No 6 Skell Bank, one of a pair of semi-detached Victorian houses. The large building with the hipped roof (top right) is a pair of semi-detached houses overlooking Borrage Bridge. The brick-built industrial chimney is at Williamsons Paintworks and the pantile roof below this chimney indicates a row of cottages. The building with the pale roof in the centre of the image is situated in Corporation Yard and has been the main means of dating the image. This information has been deduced from careful study of the 1890 Ordnance Survey plan 1:500 and the plans between 1909-1929 of the 1:2500
