Dr Moody's Freedom ceremony

Dr Moody receiving the framed Freedom of the City document from Mayor Francis Charles Lowley. Seated to the right of the Mayor is the Mayoress, Councillor Mrs Oakley. Other dignitaries are standing applauding and the Mace is clearly visible in front of the Mayor. Photographers and the audience are also visible. Dr Moody was the organist and choirmaster at Ripon Cathedral from 1902-1954 and was given the Freedom of the City in 1952. The ceremony took place in the Lawrence Ballroom, situated on the Market Place.
