The Macebearer , Mr Cyril Hawley , dressed in his civic regalia including the baldrick with the horn attached and a tricorn hat. He is carrying the mace, a symbol of civic authority. It was made in 1607 and the crown shaped coronet was added in 1674. The windows of the rear basement of the Town Hall can be seen behind Mr Hawley.
