A chilly street scene looking along Fishergate towards North Street with the horse and carriage making its way towards the Market Square. The photograph would have been taken midway through the road widening in the early 1900's when several premises were demolished. To the right the remaining building is The Grapes Inn, soon to be demolished, and to the top left the hanging sign, partially obscured by snow, is for Hemsworth antique shop which was frequented by royalty, including Queen Mary.
