Thought to be an image taken of the hastily prepared Armistice Day celebrations on 11th November 1918. A Union Jack was hoisted from the Town Hall, and flags and banners raised in the Square, and in streets around Ripon. A general holiday was announced and businesses closed for the day, with troops marching down into town to join the festivities after formal parades at the Army Camp.
