Jim Gott (1897- 1980) was a local character and highly respected local artist who specialised in intricately detailed drawings. Jim Gott spent most of his life working as a postman, except for a brief spell in the army. He had no formal art training and was self-taught and must have passed on his natural talent to his son Kelvin who studied at The Slade School of Fine Art in London. Mr. Gott had other talents, he played the piano, wrote poetry and penned the local pantomime as the dame.
